Friends, family pay tribute to late Fabonmi

Emotions flowed as friends and family members gathered at the Ondo State Sports Council (OSSC) to pay their last respect to the pioneer Coach of Sunshine Stars, late Mike Fabonmi.
Before his death he was the chairman of Ondo State coaches’ council.
The General Manager of the Sports Council, Mr. Wande Fabuluje said the death of Fabonmi came to the football family as a rude shock. He described him as a mentor whose wealth of experience was unquantifiable.
Fabuluje said, we love him but God loves him more, all we could do now is to come together like this and wish him eternal life.
He was a gentleman to the core who preferred to be offended than to offend people.
A close pal of the late coach and former coach of Ondo State Water Corporation Football Club, Mr Michael Iluemeka said all his associate would feel the vacuum he left behind.
His words: “Fabonmi was an ideal man, very cooperative, sincere in facts, he was an epitome of good thing. We wish he could have tarried around a little, but God knows best, who are we to blame God, he added.
“It’s very unfortunate that such a nice man left at a time his wealth of experience was needed most.
Team officer one of the Ondo State Coaching council, Mr. Sola Asogbon Ogunfuyi said Fabonmi was a great and intelligent coach that will never look down on anybody. “He has left us but his memory will live with us forever,” he said.
One of his daughters, Mrs. Bunmi Ayo Makinde who spoke on behalf of her siblings said his father will be seriously missed.
“His death was a shock to the entire family. We are finding it hard to stand the rude shock, he left us without notification.
I pray God gives us the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” she added.
