The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Osun State has deployed 1,200 officers and men to keep surveillance ahead of the celebration of Sallah.
The Sector Commander, Mr. Inyang Umoh, disclosed in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo that 1,200 officers have been drafted to strategic locations in the state.
This, he said, will help curtail any form of road accidents during and after the Eid-Kabir celebrations.
He stated that the officers, comprising both special marshals and regulars, would help maintain orderliness on highways and ensure road users comply with safety ordinances during and after the Sallah festivity.
“We will not tolerate any reckless driving during and after the Sallah festivity, and our men are out there to ensure motorists comply with safety regulations. We have visited many media houses, traditional rulers, motor parks, and also churches and mosques to spread the message of defensive driving during this period,” Umoh said.
According to him, the command has been able to increase its enlightenment campaign towards ensuring zero accidents on highways.
“The message is clear that motorists should embrace a defensive style of driving and be disciplined while on the road, which will help reduce any eventualities or accidents.”
The sector commander further stated that it has deployed its ambulances and towing vans to strategic locations in the state to help in any form of emergency if necessary.
Umoh, however, called on transportation stakeholders to ensure they educate and enlighten their subjects on the need to be safety conscious to avoid loss of lives and property in the state.
