By Victor Akinkuolie, Igbokoda

As part of efforts to improve the safety of road users during the ember months, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Igbokoda Zonal Command, has reiterated its readiness to partner with the management of Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State.

The Zonal Commander of the FRSC, Igbokoda Command, Mrs Janet Oluseyi, stated this in Igbokoda at the weekend during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government in his office at the council headquarters.

Mrs. Oluseyi said the visit was part of the Corps’ efforts to sensitise residents, promote safer road practices during the ember months, and solicit the council’s support for the activities of FRSC officials across the area.

Describing road safety as a shared responsibility between the public and the FRSC, the zonal commander expressed the Corps’ commitment to working closely with the local government to ensure greater safety on the roads.

In his response, the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Mr. Maurice Oripenaiye, commended the FRSC for its activities in the area, noting that the partnership initiative would further promote the safety of motorists and commuters, especially during the ember months.

While welcoming the FRSC team to his office, M.r Oripenaiye acknowledged the critical role of the Corps in ensuring safer roads, and reaffirmed the council’s readiness to collaborate with the organisation beyond the ember period.

The chairman also emphasised the need for more caution and vigilance among drivers, commending the FRSC officials for their sustained public enlightenment campaigns within the local government. He assured that the council would continue to support the Corps in its efforts to make the roads safer for all.

Mr.  Oripenaiye further appealed to FRSC officials to intensify sensitisation on the dangers of overloading and over-speeding, particularly on the popular market days in the area.

He also assured the Corps of the council’s continued logistical and moral support to enhance the effectiveness of their operations, urging the FRSC to maintain close collaboration with his administration to make Igbokoda one of the best-managed local government headquarters in the state.

Earlier, the Secretary to the Local Government, M.r Segun Odolo, commended the FRSC for its consistent efforts in promoting road safety in the area. He reiterated the readiness of the council’s management to sustain its partnership and support for the Corps in ensuring the safety of all road users.
