The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ikare Akoko unit on Sunday rescued a child from the ruins of a Toyota Hiace Bus which was involved in a ghastly lone accident at Ayegunle Oka in Akoko Southwest Local Government Area of Ondo State.
However, the mother of the two year old baby reportedly lost her life in the accident.
According to the Unit Commandant of FRSC Ikare Akoko, Mr. Ropo Alabi, the vehicle with number plate BWR 563 YL was heading to Ogbere in Ogun State.
He disclosed the woman died instantly in the crash while her two year old baby survived.
According to him, the child was in the care of by the FRSC before the family of the deceased woman was contacted and has since been handed over to the relatives of her late mother.
The Hope Metro gathered that the child was handed over to Messrs John and Joseph Ode in the presence of the police.
Mr John Ode, on behalf of the family, described FRSC efforts on Nigerian roads as unprecedented.
He thanked the men of the FRSC Ikare Unit for making it possible to rescue the child.
