Residents of Akure, the Ondo state capital have begun to feel the impact of the scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol in the country.
The Hope observed that long queues have continued to build up at various filling stations especially in Akure, most of the dispensing stations remain locked, while others were seen hoarding the product.
Some of the petrol dealers are now selling above the official pump price as motorists continue to groan over shortage of the product.
Filling stations are now selling between N180 and N190 per litre.
According to the vice president of Independent Petroleum marketers in Ondo State, Idowu Adebusuyi said transportation of petrol from depot to various locations was the major cause of scarity.
He said the scarcity in the state is minimal compared to the northern part of the country because of the proximity of the state to the depot.
The residents are however appealing to the government and the NNPC to make the product available to ease hardship.
