FUOYE killing: More facts emerge as police arrest fleeing suspect

The Ekiti State Police Command said more facts have begin to unfold in the investigation to unravel the cause of the death of Miss Modupe Deborah Atanda, a Nursing student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, with the arrest of a fleeing suspects.
The Command’s helsman in the state, Mr Dare Ogundare, disclosed this to newsmen at the weekend.
He said apart from the ten persons earlier invited by the police, a fleeing suspect who works as a welder in the lecture theatre where late Atanda slept before she was killed has also been invited.
The police boss confirmed that the suspect who had been at large since the news of the death of the late student broke out in the institution, is among the suspects to be interrogated.
He was said to have fled to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, after the incident, but he was brought back to Ado-Ekiti immediately the police arrested him in Abuja.
CP Ogundare explained that those who had been earlier invited by the police on the matter are currently cooperating and helping the police at the homicide section of the command in their investigation.
The Commissioner gave an assurance that circumstances surrounding the untimely death of the deceased would be unravelled by the police.
He equally assured members of the public of the continuous determination of the state police command under his watch to police the state and guarantee the safety of Iives and property of all the residents at all times.
Recall the Federal Government-owned University community was recently thrown into mourning, following the sudden discovery of the lifeless body of the female 200-level student about two weeks ago.
It was gathered that the corpse of the 22-year-old girl was discovered in a shallow grave at a distance of about 30 metres to the Nursing lecture hall of the institution, with debris and injuries all over her body.
The 200-level student who was earlier spotted in the lecture hall in company of some of her colleagues, was later declared missing by the management of the institution, during which a search operation was launched by the security department of the university, which led to the discovery of her lifeless body.
The discovery of the body which threw the entire university community into serious mourning and tension, prompted the management of the institution to direct all the students to go home, while investigation continues to unravel the cause of the death of the late female student.
