Gala will resist attempts to lure Osimhen away
…Ozbek warns Chelsea, other suitors
Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has vowed that the club will resist any attempt to lure Victor Osimhen away from the club in the January transfer window.
The Lion are enjoying the services of the Nigerian dare-devil striker who has been in blistering form since he joined from Napoli last summer.
Osimhen, 25, already has scored nine goals in 12 games and has also registered five assists to demonstrate his all-round ability.
There have been reports linking the 25-year-old away from the RAMS Park in January despite signs indicating that he is comfortable at Galatasaray.
Recently, it was claimed that Chelsea could attempt to sign the Super Eagles forward if they receive an irresistible offer for Christopher Nkunku.
The Blues’ are long-term admirers of Osimhen and are not the only club that have been recently linked with him.
Speaking with reporters, Özbek declared that there is an agreement in place for Osimhen to stay at Galatasaray for the rest of the season and they are ready to keep him beyond next month.
“Victor Osimhen came like a 100-year-old Galatasaray and is adapting. If you see his attitude in Florya. I think we have a share here and I am very happy.
“Those who cannot adapt to this atmosphere cannot stay in Galatasaray anyway. He is our player this season.
“There is a very difficult clause for him to leave during the mid-season break. According to our agreement, he will play for us until the end of the season.
“No one should bend it. He will make his own decision at the end of the season,” he said.
The lanky striker is also committed to playing at the RAMS Park until the end of the season, thereby shutting the door on the possibility of an exit next month.
Osimhen’s loan deal with Galatasaray expires on June 30, 2025, according to the official website of the Turkish Football Federation.
Meanwhile, former Fenerbahçe winger Tümer Metin has been amazed by the performances of Osimhen for Galatasaray.
The Super Eagles striker has taken the Trendyol Süper Lig by storm, helping Okan Buruk’s side maintain their status as the best team in the Turkish top-flight.
Galatasaray lead the standings after 13 games with 35 points, three points ahead of second-placed Fenerbahçe and are the only team yet to lose a game.
