The Cycling Federation of Nigeria, CFN, has suspended Edo State Coach, Jackson Iyobosa Edobor from further participation at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival tagged Gateway Games, for alleged unruly behaviour.

The suspension letter signed by the CFN Secretary General, Mr. Joel Akinluwa stated that Coach Edobor is “suspended from attending any cycling competitions and/or visiting the cycling venue with immediate effect,” for his “unacceptable behaviour on May 21, 2025, during the cycling event at the National Sports Festival (Gateway Games) in Abeokuta”.

Coach Edobor’s misconduct, the suspension letter read, was “threatening to kill invited Commissaire, Mr. Osaretin Emuze (and) accusing him of influencing the outcome of the Male Team Pursuits”.

The CFN stated that the “behaviour not only brought shame to (the coach and his team) but “also compromised the integrity of the event”.

The federation however, stated that before the suspension could be lifted, the coach is “required to write a letter of apology to the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, “acknowledging your wrongdoing and promising not to engage in similar behaviour in the future,” with a warning that the letter of apology must reach the CFN within 48 hours, failure of which may result in further disciplinary actions.
