Ghana ends African goal
draught, loses 2-3 to Portugal

Black Stars of Ghana yesterday scored two goals to break Africans goal draught at the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars became first African to find the back of the net despite fell a 3-2 loss from Christian Ronaldo inspired Portugal in the group H opener.

After other four Africans at the biggest football showpiece in Qatar failed to score a goal in their respective matches.

Senegal had earlier in their open match lost 0-2 to Netherlands, Morocco played goaless draw with Croatia while Cameroon fell 0 -1 to Switzerland and Tunisia shared spoils of the encounter with Denmark

Ronaldo put Portugal ahead in the 66th minutes having scored from penalty kick.

Portugal jubilation was cut short in the 73minutes as Andre Ayew gave his side the leveller.

Joa Felix restored Portugal’s lead in the 78th minute with his solo effort Rafael Leao extended the Portugal’s lead in the 80th minute .

But the resilience Ghana reduced the deficit in the 89th minute from Osman Bukari goal.

Christian Ronaldo became first player to score in five consecutive World Cup.
