A popular juju music artiste, Osadare Yomi Bright has advised all musicians to promote originality, adding that achievement is not about tactics, it’s about commitment, hard work and perseverance.
Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity especially, juju music. It’s something we are all touched by.
Bright maintained that no matter the cultural background we are from, everyone loves good music. One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.
During an interview with Friday Extravaganza, the artiste noted that a lot has been happening in the Juju music arena because some of the leaders they look up to in Juju music are not living up to expectations.
He carpeted veteran musicians over the slow pace of development in the Juju music arena while sharing his worries about the challenges facing the Juju genre.
His words: “All the problems we are having now in Juju music stems from the so-called star musicians who do not want upcoming Juju musicians to grow, they want everything to be all about them alone and this is affecting the Juju music industry.
“There is no basis for comparison in Nigerian music, because Nigerian music has gone far and wide and is recognized all over the world.
“Nigerian musicians are doing well. All we need is the support of government to make things work better.”
He stated that Juju music giants like King Sunny Ade has been a great support and pillar in the Juju music.
He mentioned factors that are working against the progress of Juju music to include jealousy, adding that greed and selfishness, especially from their leaders.
He noted that there were lots of Juju artistes that need support but they are being let down by the leaders’ act of greed saying that they need to support one another and work on their copy rights.
