The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has expressed satisfaction with the level of renovation work done so far at the State House of Assembly Complex, along Igbatoro Road, Akure.
Akeredolu who paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the hallowed chamber to assess the level of work done by the contractor handling the renovation work, lauded the contractor for the work done so far.
The Assembly Complex which was built several years ago is being renovated by the state government.
Akeredolu said his administration is doing a total makeover on the structure to provide a befitting working environment for the lawmakers.
The Governor was in company of his deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Donald Ojogo and other top government officials.
They were received by the Speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun; Deputy Speaker, Samuel Aderoboye, and other members of the Assembly,
Akeredolu who expressed satisfaction with the level of work done at the Assembly Complex, particularly the visible changes noticed, described the renovation as a core issue.
“We have to come because I want to have an update on the renovation work going on here.
“Those who are on strike can be on strike, I’m not against their strike. It is not a state issue. It is a national issue. But it is not right to lock the gate against the workers. The renovation of this Assembly is a core issue. This Assembly was built several years back and no one had touched it anyway.
“So, we are now doing a total makeover, and it is going to look different. It is a work that I’m interested in and that is why I have to come here. There have been total change. I’m sure by June, July, this place will be in order. We will have a befitting House of Assembly that everybody will be proud of”, the Governor stressed.
He appreciated the lawmakers for their cooperation.
In his response, the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun, appreciated the efforts of Governor Akeredolu to give the lawmakers a befitting hallowed chamber.
According to him, the development has further demonstrated the Governor is Mr. “Talk-and-Do”.
