Ekiti State Governor, Mr Abiodun Oyebanji has commended Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele over his commitment to grassroots development in Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

The governor gave the commendation at the commissioning of a Ultra Modern [Oja Oba] market, fully powered with lights, Aramoko Ekiti and Commissioning of Ultra Modern [Oja Oba] market fully powered with Solar lights in Igede Ekiti where he described his projects as transformative.

“And if you look at what is happening in the Central District, you can only thank him for being people-oriented and for also being a good representative of his people.

“These are projects that speak to the heart of our people,” the governor remarked.

He added that the projects extend beyond markets to include mini-stadiums, intensive care units, electrification projects, road construction, and educational facilities.

” Last year, a newly constructed road and a university building for medical and law students were commissioned, with the second phase of the university project currently underway.

“This is a partnership that works, and we are grateful to Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and all National Assembly members for their support,” he noted, recalling how the senator had aligned his projects with the state government’s vision from the onset.

In ensuring sustainability, the newly built market will be maintained by the local government’s inspectorate unit, with a market management committee overseeing cleanliness and upkeep.

Bamidele, while speaking on the market, emphasised the need for cooperation among stakeholders.

“They should cooperate with the local government and the traditional institution, led by the Onigiri in Kansu, because this is Oba’s market; ‘Oja Oba’.

“The local government and the traditional rulers are involved. Whatever token traders are expected to contribute for maintenance, they should do so.

” Our goal is to modernise the marketplace while maintaining public health standards to prevent outbreaks of diseases,” he said.

On national issues, Senator Bamidele addressed the ongoing debate in the House of Representatives concerning the age requirement for the President and Vice President.

Regarding the eagerly anticipated commencement of the newly established university, Bamidele assured that academic activities would begin by September or October 2025.
