Gov Wike’s Unity Cup: Sunshine Stars beat  Abia Warriors  4-2

In a spectacle that took place under the floodlights, Sunshine Stars excellently defeated Abia Warriors 4-2 at the Sharks Stadium .

The two Nigeria Professional Football League sides treated fans to spectacle that made them eager for great expectation in the Unity Cup.

Sunshine Stars raced in a beautiful display six minutes before the half hour Daniel Barnabas bundled in Fuad Ekeleojuoti’s cut back pass  across the goal line.

In the 28th minute, a penalty kick was awarded to the Owena Whales as goal bound Chibundu was impeded in the area.

Captain Sunday Abe stepped up and tucked home the goal sending the keeper the wrong way.

The Umuahia Warriors tried to reduce the deficit in the entertaining game.

Stars keeper, Ayo Oko pulled a great save to preserve the Akure based side’s two goal lead before gangling striker, Sunday Adetunji eventually pulled one back for Warriors in the 38th minute.

Chibundu guided home from a rebound as Sunshine Stars restored their two-goal lead.

First half of the explosive fixture ended 1-3 much to the appreciation of the fans at the Sharks Stadium.

Warriors came out blazing hot in the second stanza and for the second time in the game, they reduced the deficit by one goal through an own goal by Kehinde Adeyemi.

They almost equalised in the 70th minute, but Ojo was able to gather from a dangerous shot in the area.

Stars restored their two goal cushion against the run of play as defender, Austin Obaorakpo scored an own goal from Seun Olulayo’s dangerous cross.
