Govt donates drugs, equipment to victims

Ondo State Government has donated large quantities of drugs, medical equipment and consumables to victims of last Sunday ‘s church attack in Owo.

The medical items were handed over to the Chief Medical Directors of Federal Medical Centre, Owo, General Hospital, Owo and St. Louis Catholic, Hospital, Owo where the victims are receiving medical treatment by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Ajaka.

Ajaka noted that the donation was part of the state government’s response efforts towards ensuring quick recovery of the victims of the church attack.

Ajaka added that the situation is now under control stressing that the atmosphere in Owo is calm.

He stated that the medical response at the three hospitals where the victims are receiving medical treatment has been pro-active as the health workers in the three health facilities have been discharging their duties effectively.

Ajaka commended the people of Ondo State for their concern for the victims of the attack saying they have been donating blood towards the victims’ recovery.

Contrary to speculations, the Commissioner gave the mortality rate arising from the church attack as 20.

“Here at the Federal Medical Centre, we have 27 adults and 11 children on admission with various degrees of injuries.

“Several people have been coming from everywhere to sympathise with us. They have mobilised to donate blood to the victims to aid their recovery .

“The situation has been put under control and Owo is now calm”,  Ajaka stressed.

The Hospital Administrator of St. Louis Catholic Church, Owo,  Revd. Sister Mary Agnes appreciated the Ondo State government for the kind gesture.
