Govt empowers persons with disabilities

Ondo State Government has empowered persons with disabilities in the state with various items and equipment to ameliorate their plight.
The items given to the beneficiaries at the event held at the State Agency For Welfare of Persons With Disabilities in Akure include, grinding and sewing machines, generators and clippers among others.
Distributing the items to the beneficiaries on behalf of the state government, the Secretary of the Agency, Mrs Olutope Fasuyi explained that the empowerment is aimed at ensuring that this set of people are self sustained.
The Secretary who charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items so as to move out of poverty to prosperity added that the Agency will carry out a follow-up to ensure that they are using it for what it is meant for.
She assured that the state government will continue to provide friendly environment for them to harness their full potentials.
Also speaking is the Special Assistant to the state governor on Special Persons, Princess Folasade Arise who appreciated the state government for taking their welfare as priority.
While saying that the present administration in the state has been empowering them in terms of employment and skills acquisition programmes, she urged the beneficiaries to continue to develop themselves for sustainable growth.
Speaking in an interview with The Hope, the State Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities,Prophet Elisha Adeola commended the state government for the gesture, saying that they have never had it so good in the state.
He however advised the beneficiaries to imbibe the spirit of creativity and hardwork and equally aspire to succeed.
