Speaking at the palace of the Owa of Idanre, Oba Fredrick Aroloye yesterday, Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Sunday Akinwalire said that the visit aimed at providing related advice which could be helpful.

According to him, it is important to enlighten residents on the need to embrace the best use of the environment so as to wade off the advent of the global menace.

He stated that the present administration is determined to give prompt response to communities who battle flooding predicament from the rain.

While noting that flooding has been ravaging Idanre, he explained that NIMET prediction identified the community as some of the flash points, he commended the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for emplacing structures to combat flooding in the state especially the availability of three amphibious escavators which according to him have been deployed to the three senatorial districts respectively.

While calling on residents to embrace effective waste management, he stressed the need for them to shun illegal waste disposal especially the dumping of waste into water ways which according to him prevent free flow of water.

He charged them not to build on water courses and assured that the community will receive government attention soon saying “the amphibious excavator will get to Idanre by next week and it will touch the entire Local Government.”
