Grassroots football, catalyst for youth devt – Albert

The Seun Albert U-17 Unity Cup tournament has proven to be a significant catalyst for youth development in Ondo State.
Speaking at the grand finale held recently at the Beulah Primary School field in Ore, the convener of the tournament, Mr. Seun Albert, highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, which prioritises youth advancement.
“The tournament aims to tap into the vast football talent in Odigbo Local Government, aligning with the Renewed Hope agenda focused on empowering young people,” Albert said.
He noted that the tournament has successfully identified talented footballers who will receive continuous training and mentorship to hone their skills and prepare for future opportunities.
“We have discovered promising footballers in this year’s edition and are committed to providing them with ongoing training and mentorship to support their development,” he added.
Albert reaffirmed his commitment to empowering the youth through sports, emphasising his dedication to creating opportunities for young athletes to thrive.
“My commitment to youth empowerment through sports is clear—I will continue to provide platforms for young talents to showcase their abilities and improve themselves. The next edition promises to be even bigger and better,” he said.
The tournament, according to observers, is set to leave a lasting impact on the lives of young people in Odigbo and beyond. It reflects a broader effort to give hope and direction to the youth in Ondo State through meaningful initiatives.
“The Seun Albert U-17 Unity Cup is a testament to our commitment to youth development, offering a pathway for young athletes to grow and succeed,” Albert affirmed.
He also promised a more glamorous and exciting next edition, encouraging fans to anticipate a tournament that will highlight the best of young football talent.
The maiden edition of the tournament concluded with a thrilling finale between Winner FA and Opeyemi FA. After a goalless draw in regulation time, Winner FA triumphed 3–1 in a penalty shootout to claim the championship.
