Grassroots football need sponsors —Musa

A grassroots football coach, Kehinde Musa, has said that neglect of the round leather game at the local level taking its toll on Nigeria football fortune.
According to him lip service being paid to grassroots football has rubbed off negatively on the round leather game.
“It is shambolic because the grassroots players don’t get enough assistance from the government,” There must be conscious efforts by the government to give support to grassroots football as this will help various national teams in the country.”
He noted that government should fund grassroots football:“If we have more sponsors for grassroots football it will make it very easy for more talents to be discovered.”
Musa, a coach of Brave Eagles Football Academy, Igoba, Akure North, charged government to organize impactful programmes for grassroots football.
“My job is to scout for young players in Nigeria, bring them to the academy without taking fees from them, work on them and invest in players.
“Some of my graduates are also playing in the Sunshine team, Nigeria National under 13, government need to support the academies with meaningful programmes that can make sport to grow well.”
