Green House wins Igoba Community High School inter-house sports

Green house has emerged the overall winner of Igoba Community High School Inter House sports, while Purple house came second at the event held at the school playing ground at Igoba, Akure.
Yellow house coasted home with third position while Blue house settled for fourth position.
In a chat with Sporting Hope, the Administrative Secretary, Agency for the Welfare of People With Disability, Mrs Bayo Philip commended the school for organising one of the best sporting events for the students.
She admonished the students to discover themselves in any sports of their choice and also take their education serious, saying everything is not about academic certificate alone.
“Sport is a lucrative venture and a quick way to legitimately become a better person in the society.”
“I encourage you to take your education serious and also make use of your God given talent in the sports of your choice, you can become another, Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwakwo, Mikel Obi, Asisat Oshoala, Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume and others.”
While speaking, the chairman of the event and former Chairman of Water Corporation, Engineer Steve Giwa urged the school to do more in catching the pupils young and groom them to stardom.
He added that the students need more encouragement from the school and their parents to build their confidence to enable them prepare for future competitions.
He said: “I charged you students to follow good path in all your dealings, never cut corners to success, you are all naturally born to excell.”
“Be calm, focused and concentrate on your study,” he said.
The school principal, Dr.Olobayo Theophilus Toyin appeal to parents to encourage and support their wards to participate in sporting activities, saying sports is part of extra curriculum activities.
He added that sports aside being a unifying factor, is a tool to expose the kids to the world aside education, saying sports sharpen students brain.
The world is revolving, its not about your academic skills alone , you all have one or two natural gifts, make use of it positively and use it for the betterment of mankind.
