Group tasks Aiyedatiwa on devt, urges focus on key sectors

A civil society organisation, the Ondo Redemption Front (ORF), has charged Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to prioritise policies that will drive development and enhance the well-being of residents, stressing that his administration must move beyond political distractions.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Ayodeji Ologun and secretary, Barrister Dotun Ajulo, ORF emphasised the need for decisive governance, urging the governor to focus on revamping critical sectors, including health, education, infrastructure, and security.
The group decried the deteriorating state of healthcare in Ondo, calling for an urgent overhaul to restore the sector’s lost glory.
“Hospitals are in disrepair, and the shortage of medical personnel is alarming. The government must take swift action to improve healthcare delivery, particularly by restoring free maternal and child healthcare services,” the statement read.
On education, ORF stressed the need for reforms to improve teachers’ welfare, upgrade public schools, and strengthen vocational and technical training.
“A well-funded education system is crucial for the future of our youth. The government must ensure students are equipped with practical skills to meet today’s job market demands,” Ologun stated.
The group also called for the completion of abandoned road projects and expansion of rural road networks to boost economic activities.
“Infrastructure development is essential for progress. The governor must ensure road projects that have stalled for years are completed, while new housing schemes should be developed to tackle urban congestion,” Ajulo added.
Security was another major concern, with ORF urging the governor to strengthen Amotekun and collaborate with security agencies to combat rising crime.
“Without security, development is impossible. The government must invest in intelligence gathering and community policing to rid the state of criminal elements,” the group stated.
Beyond these sectors, ORF advised Aiyedatiwa to pursue policies that would attract investors, support small businesses, and harness the state’s blue economy for economic growth.
“This administration has an opportunity to set Ondo State on a path of progress. Governor Aiyedatiwa must act decisively to implement policies that will leave a lasting impact,” Ologun said.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to tracking government performance, pledging to support progressive policies while holding the administration accountable.
