As the November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo State draws closer, members of the Ebira community in the State have endorsed Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as their preferred candidate.
Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State, who led the gathering of Ebira indigenes on Saturday in Owo, spoke passionately on behalf of the community, drumming support for Governor Aiyedatiwa.
“We, the entire Ebira community across Ondo State, have resolved to support and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming election in this State.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa, the Ebira community stands with you; we are here in solidarity because we believe in continuity. Since the passing of the late Governor Akeredolu, you have upheld his legacies and continued the good work he started.
“You have been tested and trusted, and that is why we are 100 percent behind you. The Ebira people are solidly with you, and we will ensure victory come November 16,” he stressed.
In his response, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude for the community’s support and praised President Tinubu’s commitment to Ondo State’s economic development.
“President Tinubu has continuously shown interest in our state’s progress. Since his assumption of office, he has never wavered in his support for us,” Aiyedatiwa noted.
He also commended Governor Ododo for his exemplary leadership, saying, “I appreciate the Kogi State Governor for managing his state with the strength of youth and the wisdom of elders.”
Reflecting on the APC primary election in Ondo State, which Governor Ododo chaired, Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence in a free, fair and transparent electoral process in November.
The Ondo Governor expressed his appreciation for the Ebira community’s solidarity and reassured them of inclusiveness in his administration.
The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Adelami, thanked Governor Ododo for his love for Aiyedatiwa and the APC.
“Having left your state to come mobilise your people for the success of our party in the forthcoming election, it is obvious that you truly love our party and my principal, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
“Today, you have shown commitment to the economic development of your people both at home and away from home; this is the quality of a good leader, and our administration shall not relent in the recognition and inclusion of non-indigenes in decision making in this state,” Adelami said.
Meanwhile, in continuation of his campaign ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and APC flag bearer, took his campaign to Akoko North East, with a significant stop at the palace of the Olukare of Ikare, Oba (Alhaji) Momoh Akadri.
During the event, the Oluboropa of Iboropa, Babatunde Olaleye, expressed the royal fathers’ commitment to partnering with the governor to ensure the success of his administration.
“As traditional rulers, we are pleased to support your leadership, and we are confident that victory songs will be sung on November 16,” he assured.
The Oluboropa raised several concerns, highlighting the security challenges facing the border areas linking Kogi State with the local council.
He appealed to the governor to extend road expansion projects to various parts of the council area and to prioritise access to potable water.
He also pledged that the royal fathers would continue to keep the governor and his administration in their prayers.
The Olukare, Oba (Alhaji) Momoh Akadri, later bestowed blessings upon Governor Aiyedatiwa, praying for his success in the upcoming election.
In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude for the warm reception. He acknowledged the role the monarchs played in his emergence as the APC flag bearer, attributing his victory in the primaries to their prayers and grassroots mobilization.
“I appeal to you to continue your unwavering support as we approach the main election, Your role as custodians of our culture and respected leaders cannot be overstated. I am counting on you to mobilise your people, to engage with every community member, and to ensure they come out in full force to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), together, we can secure a brighter future for Ondo State, built on continuity and the solid foundations we have laid,” he said
Addressing the requests made by the royal fathers, the governor assured them that they would be incorporated into the 2025 budget for consideration. On road infrastructure, he specifically mentioned that the township road from Akungba to Idi Oro would be addressed.
Regarding potable water, he emphasised,
“Water is life, and no one should be deprived of it. We will prioritise this need as a matter of urgency.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa further stressed the government’s responsibility to ensure equitable development across the state.
“It is the duty of the government to spend resources for the benefit of the entire state,” he said.
He also addressed the security challenges at the border areas, promising that security agencies would intensify their efforts.
“Our administration has already provided operational vehicles to empower security outfits and enhance their effectiveness,” he noted.
The governor assured that if elected, his administration would redouble efforts to prioritise the welfare of every citizen in Ondo State.
During the visit, a notable PDP member, Momoh Mufu, also known as Apongan, defected to the All Progressives Congress.
“I can no longer remain in a party without structure or direction, it has become increasingly evident that there is no solid framework or strategic plan to guide the party’s activities, and I can no longer be part of something so disorganised,” he said.
At the palace of the Owa-Ale of Ikare-Akoko, Oba Adeleke Adefemi Adedoyin assured Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the unwavering support of the people of Ikare-Akoko for the All Progressives Congress (APC), attributing this commitment to the governor’s impactful development efforts across Ondo State.
“Your Excellency, the people of Ikare-Akoko have witnessed your dedication to transforming our state, i can assure you of 95 percent of our votes in the upcoming election. However, I urge you not to forget our community when the time comes to fulfil your promises.”
He further commended the governor for his leadership, adding, “We are confident that you will continue to drive progress. The people stand with you, and we are ready to give our full support.”
In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed heartfelt appreciation for the monarch’s endorsement and the community’s backing.
“Kabiyesi, I am truly honoured by your assurances and the faith the people of Ikare-Akoko have in our administration. I promise I will not let you down, we will remain committed to our development agenda, ensuring Ikare-Akoko receives its fair share of growth and prosperity.”
“The people have already made their decision, traditional rulers, market women, youths, and individuals from all walks of life across the state have declared their intention to come out in large numbers on November 16 to cast their votes for the APC. This overwhelming commitment and show of love is something our administration will never take for granted.” he added.
At Iboropa, the governor addressed a large gathering of enthusiastic supporters, expressing his heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering support of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He commended the community for standing steadfastly by the party and for their dedication to the party’s vision of progress and development for Ondo State.
“I am deeply grateful for your loyalty and commitment, your steadfast support has been a cornerstone of our success, and it inspires us to continue working diligently to improve the lives of our people. Your belief in our mission and dedication to seeing it through are truly commendable.” He said.
The governor went on to highlight the accomplishments of his administration, including infrastructure projects, youth empowerment initiatives, prompt payment of salary and education among others.
“We have made great strides together, but there is still more work to be done, and with your continued support, we will accomplish even greater things for Akoko north east and the entire state.”
The governor also urged the people to come out in large numbers on election day to secure the future of Ondo State.
“Your votes are powerful, they are the means to sustain the progress we have made and to ensure that our communities continue to thrive. Let us remain united and resolute as we work towards a brighter and more prosperous future.” he added
