Guber poll: Ondo declares Friday work-free day

In a move to facilitate participation in the upcoming gubernatorial election, the Ondo State Government has declared Friday, November 15, 2024, as a work-free day for all public servants.

This announcement comes as the state gears up for its governorship election, scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The work-free day is intended to enable public servants to return to their respective communities to fulfil their civic duties and cast their votes in the election.

The Ondo State Government emphasised the importance of this day in ensuring that citizens can participate fully in the democratic process.

In a circular issued on Wednesday, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Head of Service, O. F. Ayodele, directed all Accounting Officers across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to inform their staff about the development.

“All Accounting Officers are to note the content of this Circular and disseminate same to all staff of their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies,” the statement read.
