The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated the Ondo State Caretaker Committee at the party’s state secretariat in Akure.

This was contained in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr Kennedy Peretei.

It should be recalled that the State Caretaker Committee was recently constituted by the NWC of the party.

The inauguration ceremony, presided over by the National Vice Chairman (South West) of the PDP, Kamoru Ajisafe, commenced with a minute’s silence in honour of the late State Chairman, Alhaji Fatai Adams, who passed away on 14 February 2024, before the end of his tenure.

Ajisafe commended the party’s leadership in the state for their steadfastness, noting that the political climate was favourable for the PDP’s success in the forthcoming governorship election.

He described the recently concluded primary election, which produced Agboola Ajayi as the party’s governorship candidate, as transparent, fair, and credible.

Ajisafe acknowledged that Ajayi’s victory was unexpected by many, given the pre-primary permutations.

He urged party members to focus on the upcoming election, stating, “What lies ahead is more valuable, better, and more profitable than dwelling on the past.”

In his response, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Bakita Bello, expressed gratitude on behalf of the committee members and pledged that their primary mandate was to ensure the PDP’s return to Government House in November.

Bello called for the cooperation of all stakeholders to achieve this goal, while also praying for the repose of Adams’ soul.

A party leader, Dr Eddy Olafeso, also addressed members, urging them to remain focused, as the PDP was poised to win the governorship election.
