The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed April 25, 2024 for the conduct of the party’s governorship primary election ahead of the November 16, 2024 governorship poll in Ondo state.

The National Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Umar Bature in a release of timetable and schedule of activities obtained by journalists on Tuesday, said that the sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms will be from March 7 to 25, 2024, while the screening of aspirants will take place on March 27,2024.

The schedule also revealed that the PDP will conduct ward ad-hoc delegates to elect three-man delegates on April 6 to7,2024, the local government congress to elect one national delegate on April 13,2024.

Also, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  approved the delegate list for the coming Edo State governorship election primary expected to nominate a candidate to fly the party’s flag.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had slated September 21, 2024, for the governorship poll in the state.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party,  Debo Ologunagba said the leadership approved the conduct of the governorship election primary for Thursday, February 22 at the Lawn Tennis Court of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

The process leading to the conduct of the party primary has been enmeshed in controversy with nine out of the 10 aspirants accusing the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, of subverting the process in favour of his preferred candidate.

Recently, the nine aspirants led by the Deputy Governor of the State, Philip Shaibu, threatened legal action against the process, but nothing has been heard from them on that
