Four residents of Itapaji-Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, were on Monday abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers and whisked to an unknown destination.
The incident came six days after unknown gunmen struck in the area and killed a farmer .
The Hope Metro gathered the incident had ignited anger among the residents, with the youths threatening to embark on a protest if the situation was not brought under control.
The Hope Metro learnt that the gunmen struck again, barely two weeks after the new Commandant of the Western Security Network, code named Amotekun Corps in Ekiti State resumed office.
Prior to the incident, It was reliably gathered that some kidnappers had last week attacked a community and killed one person while they abducted two others.
The abducted victims were reportedly held hostage for five days before they were released after ransom was paid.
A source in the community revealed to our correspondent that the four victims were kidnapped around 3.30pm on the fateful day while returning from their farm.
He said they had earlier worked in a farm belonging to a popular Cleric in the state before they were waylaid at gunpoint and whisked away by the gunwielding gunmen.
“They were coming from the farm owned by a popular pastor in the community around 3.30 pm when they were accosted on the way and forcefully whisked away to an unknown destination.
“As of now, none of the family members had been contacted. But the police and Amotekun Corps are aware of the occurrence, “he said.
Residents of the community are said to be living in palpable fear, following recurrent attacks and kidnappings being witnessed unabated.
Contacted, the Amotekun Corps Commander in Ekiti State, Brigadier Olu Adewa (rtd) confirmed the receipt of the matter.
He promised that his men had been deployed to the area, promising that the victims would be rescued without any hitch.
