Unknown gunmen reportedly struck at Shagari Market area of Owo on Wednesday night, and abducted a resident identified as Muili Adebayo, in an attack that also claimed the life of his son, leaving his wife critically injured.
Weekend Hope gathered that the gunmen stormed Adebayo’s residence while he was about to enter his home, and forcibly whisking him away.
During the abduction, eyewitnesses sad Adebayo’s wife and one of their twin children were shot.
Sadly, the young boy died on the spot from his injuries, while his mother, despite being severely wounded, managed to flee, suffering a gunshot wound to her hand.
Reports had it that the woman was quickly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, where she is currently in a coma and undergoing treatment.
A family source who spoke with Weekend Hope said the condition of Adebayo has remained uncertain.
The source, however, said that the kidnappers had reached out to the family, demanding a ransom of N20 million for Adebayo’s release.
The shocking incident, it was learnt, has left residents of the area in fear, with many calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to combat rising insecurity in the community.
Several phone calls by our reporter to the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, were not answered as at the time of filing the report.
