Palpable fear has gripped the residents of Omo-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government area of Osun State as yet to be identified gunmen shot a man, Mr. Titus Olusola Akinrosoye in his house at midnight.
Mr. Akinrosoye was said to have escaped by providence.
“According to the victim, the men who came with local guns shot him through the window around 1:00 am, but escaped being killed by providence.
The shouts for help from the neighbour scared the daredevil who made their way out of the town.
The matter had been reported at the Divisional Police Officer in Ijebu-Jesa, whose officials had visited the scene of the incident.
Also, the monarch of the town, Oba Oluwaseyi Adejola visited the victim’s house to confirm the incident.
The inhabitants of the town could no longer sleep with their eyes closed as a result of fear and apprehension of further attacks.
Though the source of the attack on the Akinrosoye family house attack has not been confirmed, sources in the community disclosed that “it may not be unconnected with an ongoing chieftaincy tussle in the community”,
Sources hinted that “it could be the remnant of the just concluded election”
Meanwhile, the Head of the Akinrosoye family who was attacked had called on the state Commissioner of Police to kindly come to his aid to secure him and members of his family from being killed, while the monarch of the town, Oba….is also charged to allow peace to reign in the family.
“I appeal to our Kabiyesi to give peace a chance. We have never experienced this type of midnight attack in the town, as a former security officer in the country, he should reign the town with peace and tranquility, we should not be cohabitating under fear in the town”, Mr. Akinrosoye appealed.
