… Demand N100m

A Chinese national and his security man, whose identity was yet to be ascertained have been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen at Igbotako in Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State.
The Hope Metro gathered that the expatriate was abducted at his residence when some unknown hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons overpowered the security men his home.
Police sources disclosed that the abductors shot sporadically into the air on their arrival at about 2am.
Meanwhile, the kidnappers had contacted the authority of a construction company where the victim was working.
Unconfirmed reports said the suspected kidnappers have been asked for a N100 million ransom, and warned the negotiator not to involve the police in the matter or risk the life of the victim.
A competent police officer, who confirmed the incident to The Hope Metro, said the kidnappers stormed the residence of the victim at about 2am shooting sporadically and abducted the expatriate with his security man and took them to an unknown destination.
“We are aware the kidnappers have warned that police should not be involved in the matter. We are also aware that negotiation is ongoing already. But the police boss has deployed tactical squad to Igbotako for rescue mission.
“Police as an institution saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and property will not fold its arms and watch criminal elements having their way, so we are already trailing them. We will soon apprehend them and rescue the victims unhurt.
“Investigation revealed that the hoodlums are using new MTN line for negotiation and thereafter would remove it, thereby making it difficult to access their location and get tracked down.
As at the time of filing this report, their whereabouts were yet unknown. But investigation revealed that the hoodlums were using a new Mobile Network number with O90 to contact the authority of the company negotiating for ransom.
