Gunmen kidnap family of 5, 2 Chinese in Ondo, Osun, demand N10m

There was apprehension in Ajowa Akoko over the abduction of a man, his wife and three children reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Ayere Area, Kogi State, while on their way to Abuja from their hometown.
The man identified as Ibrahim Olusa and his family members were said to be travelling back to Abuja from his hometown in Ajowa Akoko, where they went for Easter celebration and fell victims of the abductors.
The Hope Metro learnt that the family of five were abducted at gun point by the hoodlums between Ajowa Akoko and Ayere in Kogi State and taken to an unknown destination.
Meanwhile, a close family source told our correspondent that the kidnappers have contacted the family demanding N10million ransom before they could be released.
A resident of Ajowa Akoko and the immediate past chairman of Ajowa Akoko community council, Mr Ajayi Bakare attributed the kidnappings and robberies on the road to the deplorable road linking Kogi State.
Bakare appealed to government to rehabilitate the road so that free flow of vehicles will be made possible.
When contacted, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, declined comment on the incident, saying it did not happen in Ondo State.
In a related incident, the Osun State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two Chinese nationals who were kidnapped at Ifewara, Osun State.
The foreigners; Messrs Zhao Jian, 33 and When, 50, were kidnapped at Okepa/Itikan Village, the gold mining site in Ifewara, Osun.
The Hope Metro gathered that around, 4pm on Monday, some gunmen attacked and abducted the duo and shot their two private guards.
In a signal signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of Osun Command, SP Yemisi Opalola, two of the private guards were shot and have been taken to the general hospital for treatment.
:The police boss, CP Olawale Olokode, immediately drafted a strong combined reinforcement of Police Tactical units, JTF, and other security outfits who have embarked on search/rescue operation of the two abducted Chinese and possible arrest of all the fleeing criminals.
“The Commissioner of Police enjoined members of the public to support, cooperate, and collaborate with the Police in fighting crime to bring it down to the barest minimum, by providing us with creditable and prompt information as he promised to rescue the abductees unhurt.” the statement read.
