A man, Nelson Adekunle Akinduro has been accused of throwing caution and decorum to the winds and allegedly snatched his own daughter, Olamide from his Baby Mama during a brawl.
The young woman along with her aged mother came into Owena Press premises on a “save our soul” mission as they claimed that they were not making a headway with getting baby Olamide back despite writing petitions to the police and seeking the assistance of some human rights organizations
According to the distraught baby mama, Anigbo Olubukola, who was in tears as she shared her distress with Our Reporter, she had been separated from her three year old daughter-for over a month as the baby was taken from her on December 29, 2022.
She explained that they had been living apart since their daughter was a wee baby as they became estranged due to some differences two months after she gave birth to the baby.
She, however, admitted that he had been shouldering some of the responsibilities attached to the child’s upbringing just recently.
She noted that he began to contact her last year whenever he visited Lagos, although he was already married to someone else following their breakup few years ago.
During the last yuletide, Olubukola narrated how he pleaded with her to bring their daughter down to Akure so he could spend some time with her during the Christmas holiday and she accepted his request.
She stated that she left Lagos with the baby on the 24th of December, 2022 and he took her to his brother’s house in Omodara Estate, Akure where she stayed with her baby till on the 29th when things changed drastically.
She explained that when he thought that she was running away with the baby, he had encouraged his family members to assault her and throw her out in the house while one of the male occupants in the house forcefully took the baby from her.
She recalled that on the second day of her arrival, Nelson told her to resign herself to the fact that she would not go back with her daughter when she would be returning to Lagos.
Narrating how the baby was snatched from her, she stated that some of her friends came visiting and she wanted to buy them drinks and had ventured outside the compound with her daughter.
She stated that Akinduro along with his mother and siblings had rushed after her and declared that she could not leave the compound with the baby.
Olubukola said that the elderly woman had directed a hefty man in the compound to forcibly take the girl from her and that the man hit her on the face when she tried to struggle with him which made her face to swell.
When asked if she had any evidence to show for the assault, she regretted that she did not take any pictures because she was hospitalized following the assault.
She narrated all the steps she had taken to seek a legal redress from the police B division through a human rights organization to Police AIG’s office in Akure.
She said that she had further filed a complaint at the Ondo State High Court, Oke Eda, Akure.
She called on well meaning Nigerians to come to her aid as she expressed fear that her daughter’s father and his family members could inflict harm on her and her daughter with claim that the mother had threatened her on occasions.
Reacting to the allegations made by his estranged baby mama, Akinduro Nelson told The Hope that he had no reason to kidnap his own daughter.
Akinduro stated that he had been a model lover and companion to Olubukola following their introduction ceremony, her eventual pregnancy and when she gave birth to their daughter.
He stated that they were heartthrobs since their university days in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko and that they were living together after they left school.
He claimed that they had the best of relationship until his baby mama’s head was turned by her family and she trickily took away his daughter and left him on the pretext that she was going to Lagos to sign some documents.
He narrated that he tried to reconcile with her through her family members but that she had rebuffed all his reconciliatory moves until he had to move on and marry another woman two years after their separation.
He admitted that he had been planning when he would take back his daughter, claiming that his baby mama had not been appropriately utilizing the funds he had been sending for his daughter’s upkeep.
He stated that he had been pleading with her to allow the girl live with him but she refused.
Akinduro who expressed dissatisfaction with the way his baby mama was raising his daughter said he want to raise properly by himself.
He said that he was not afraid of any eventuality as the case was already in court
He spoke with The Hope through a video telephone interview in which he had the young girl speak with Our Reporter and said that his daughter was happy with him.
