Afrobeats singer Ruger has taken a veiled jab at the Headies Awards following the announcement of nominees for its 17th edition, a revelation that has ignited debate over the exclusion of some notable names.

In a post on his X account, Ruger appeared to lace his remarks with sarcasm as he described the Headies as the “most credible award event in the whole world.”

He extended his appreciation to the organisers for acknowledging the efforts of “ALL ARTISTS and ALL PROJECTS.”

Concluding his post, the singer prophesied that the Headies would soon surpass all other award events globally.

“Shoutout to the most credible award event in the whole world THE HEADIES. Thank you for recognising the hard work of ALL ARTISTS and ALL PROJECTS. Very soon, you will be bigger than all the awards in the whole world. Amen,” he wrote.
