Health workers urged to update their knowledge

As a way of ensuring better implementation of Modified Performance Based Financing(PBF) in Ondo State, health workers have been advised to update themselves with superior knowledge in order to develop health facilities in the state.

Executive Secretary, Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (OSPHCDA), Dr. Francis Akanbiemu gave the advice while speaking at the reorientation and training on modified PBF, for Project Implementation Unit(PIU) by the Nigeria State Health Investment Project(NSHIP), at Igbara Oke yesterday.

According to him, the exercise aimed at providing proper orientation for health workers especially in the area of proper conduct.

While calling on health workers to put in their best in order to attract motivational incentive bonus, Akan-biemu commended NSHIP for its various interventions aimed at improving maternal and child health indices in the state.

Project Coordinator, Ondo NSHIP, Dr. Paulinus Omode who noted that the training forms the basis for subsequent ones, stressed the need for effective attentiveness by participants in order to improve on the quality of healthcare services in the state.

He added that the exercise affords participants the opportunity of becoming trainers in modified PBF for others in subsequent training.

While affirming that it also forms the foundation upon which Modified PBF will be built in the state, he stated that it will also serve as a tool to build the knowledge of implementers, so as to ensure effective implementation of the project across different levels.

Also speaking, Lead Trainer, Mr. Solape Folarin stressed the need for things to be done properly in order to achieve better results.

Speaking with The Hope, a participant, Dr. Dayo Fayanju while commending governments efforts at improving the health sector, described the exercise as a welcome development noting that its outcome will have a pragmatic effect on health care delivery.

Another participant, Dr. Olubunmi Olakunde  described it as very effective and efficient.
