Determined to revitalise healthcare delivery at the grassroots, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Mr. Andrew Ogunsakin, has begun a tour of basic health centres across the 13 wards to assess facilities and ensure improved access to quality healthcare for residents.
The exercise, which began with visits to health facilities in Igbotako, Iju-Odo, and Ikoya, is part of the chairman’s deliberate efforts to ensure efficient healthcare delivery and infrastructural improvement at the grassroots level.
During the inspection tour, Ogunsakin assessed ongoing projects within the health centres, including the construction of residential quarters for doctors and nurses to enhance round-the-clock service delivery, as well as the rehabilitation of existing healthcare facilities and their surroundings.
Speaking during the tour, the council boss reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revitalising the primary health sector, emphasising that quality healthcare remains one of the cardinal objectives of his administration.
“Our goal is to ensure that every community in Okitipupa Local Government has access to functional and responsive healthcare services. We are determined to upgrade our facilities, motivate our workers, and make healthcare accessible to all,” he said.
Ogunsakin also used the opportunity to interact with healthcare personnel in various communities, seeking first-hand feedback on their challenges and identifying areas where the council can provide further support to enhance efficiency and morale.
The tour will continue in the coming days to cover other communities across the local government as part of the administration’s holistic approach to rebuilding the health sector.
Accompanying the chairman on the tour were the Secretary to the Local Government, Femi Oladokun; members of the Legislative Council; the Director of Public Health, and other key officials of the local government.
