Herbalist caught with human’s head, hands in Akoko, docked

The police have arraigned a 45-year-old herbalist, Idris Sule Shaye, before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Oke-eda, for unlawful possession of a burnt fresh human head.

The prosecution said Idris intended using the victim’s head and hands for ‘juju’  or charm.

The accused person and others at large were said to have committed the offence in February 24, 2020, at about 7: 00pm, at Isua Akoko, in the Ondo Magisterial District.

The offence, it was stated, contravened sections 516 and 329A(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sulaiman Abdullateef, prayed the court for a short adjournment to enable him study the case file and for proper report of police investigation.

The accused person was not represented by a lawyer.

Magistrate A.A.T Oyedele, ordered that the defendant would be kept in police custody pending the completion of the investigation.

She added that the Police should report with the exhibits on the adjourned date, in March 24, 2020.
