The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Monday, July 8, as a public holiday to commemorate the Islamic New Year.
This was contained in a press statement issued on Thursday, July 4, 2024, by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Rasheed Aderibigbe, on behalf of the state government.
The statement was made available to our correspondent in Osogbo.
While wishing the entire Muslim ummah a happy celebration, the release adds that Governor Adeleke will preside over a special parade and march-past at Osogbo Township Stadium on Sunday, July 7, 2024, as part of the activities lined up by the government to usher in the Islamic New Year in grand style.
Part of the press statement issued by Hon. Aderibigbe on behalf of the Governor and made available to newsmen reads:
“The public holiday graciously approved by His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is to allow Muslim faithful to celebrate and pray for peace, progress, and development of the state and Nigeria as a whole.”
Governor Adeleke wishes all Muslim faithful a happy celebration of the new Islamic year.
