History ‘ll be kind to Akeredolu– Basorun

The Group Managing Director, ZL Global Alliance, Dr. Abiola Bashorun, yesterday said history would be kind to the former Governor of Ondo State, late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and posterity would applaud him for the great works he did while holding sway as the Governor of the state.

She said late Akeredolu’s positive impact in the enthronement of good governance was felt on all fronts including education, health, environmental protection through effective waste management and flood control vis-a-vis Operation Flush, infrastructure development, among other critical sectors.

Bashorun spoke on Thursday at a special Night of Tribute organised by the ZL Global Alliance at the Government Printing Press, Alagbaka, Akure, in honour of the late Governor.

While describing the death of late Akeredolu as a huge national loss, Bashorun disclosed that the former Governor was an unrepentant fighter for fairness, justice and equity in the affairs of Nigeria and most especially in his handling of the governance of the state.

The special Night of Tribute was attended by management and staff of the organization, other dignitaries, friends and well-wishers.

She said, “it is very difficult for me to come to terms with the fact that you are no more with us and therefore struggling so hard to use past tense in writing about you. You came, you saw and indeed conquered on all fronts. You stood for the truth everywhere you found yourself during your impactful sojourn on earth. I am especially grateful to God for the privilege of meeting you and working with you in the task of national development using Ondo State as the field of impact.

“Indeed, I have lost a loving father and mentor who taught me courage, resilience, forthrightness and uprightness.

“I will always celebrate your commitment to achieving even the seemingly impossible task. This was also demonstrated during Nigeria’s response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Your sense of leadership made Ondo State stand out among the comity of States.

“Aketi, as we all called you while here with us, you were more than a political figure; you were a visionary leader, a legal luminary, and a passionate advocate for the people. Your particular interest in keeping Ondo State clean through various interventions such as Operation Flush, sustained environmental cleanliness among others will forever remain indelible “.
