HoS charges group on service delivery

Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor Niran Adeyemo has charged Change Ambassadors on the need to improve themselves and be versatile in their field in order to attain an efficient service delivery and policy implementation in the state civil service.

He gave the charge during the ninth interactive session with Ondo Service Improvement (ODSIP) Change Ambassadors in Akure.

According to him, it is their duty to strive to do things better and also ensure a well functioning government in all sectors at all levels.

Adeyemo said that the forum has been established to create an avenue for cross fertilisation of ideas and peer learning among Change Ambassadors who according to him serve as the watershed for transformation.

Adeniran who explained that the office will soon come up with Performance Management Template which will be used to assess their effectiveness in respect of the change and transformation they put in their various MDAs.

He said that the template will help in the documentation of work done per ambassador and also serve as yardstick for their continuity.

He advised that they put into use the knowledge gained in their various MDAs for effective transformation of the state civil service and the society at large.

In his welcome address, Administrative Secretary, Department of Public Service Reform, Mr. Adewale Omomowo stated that plans have been put in place to upgrade some strategies and tools for driving reforms under the Ondo Service Improvement Programme (ODSIP) through the digitisation of the civil service, upgrading of Change Ambassadors forum, newsletter publications and feedback mechanism among others.

He noted that it is important that they intensify efforts in educating, enlightening and sensitising civil servants of the tenets of ODSIP, stating that they must have all hands on deck in ensuring that the civil service of the state becomes the best in the country.

Speaking in a lecture on one administration, Permanent Secretary, Rural and Community Development, Mr Femi Aladenola identified law, reforms and civil service as the sustenance of government structure.

The civil service according to him is expected to be in charge of policies noting that it is expected to serve using the tool of bureaucracy.

Noting that civil servants run the civil service, stating that civil service isn’t for employment creation but for effective service.

He said that there is an expectation from every civil servant noting that he/she must be knowledgeable, effective/efficient, thorough, creative, exact, submissive,adhere to rules and obedient.
