Tragedy struck in Akure, Ondo state capital as a popular socialite and Chief Executive Officer of Klass Five Hotel, Adesoji Johnson Adeleye, was guesomely murdered in the early hour of Tuesday at his guest house in Arakale area of the capital city.

It was gathered that Adeleye was in one of the rooms in the hotel when some men suspected to be assasins, overpowered and killed him

According to a source, the armed men were said to have found their way into the hotel premises and met Adeleye who was awake and ready for the day’s work.

The men were said to have overpowered the hotel owners and hit him with a pestle severally before he died, leaving him in the pool of his blood.

Another source, who wished to remain anonymous, informed our correspondent that the deceased had woken up that morning feeling healthy and instructed his worker to begin cleaning the guest house in preparation for the day’s activities.

However, shortly after, an armed assailant entered through the back of the property and launched a sudden attack on him with a pestle and sticks before striking him on the head.

The source revealed that Adeleye had experienced a premonition of his impending death. Just a day prior to the tragic event, he had advised his worker to secure an open hole at the back of the hotel to prevent intruders from entering and threatening his life. In light of this, he had recently initiated a comprehensive renovation of the guest house.

A close associate of the deceased said they went out together yesterday night with a promise to meet again today (Tuesday) but expressed surprise over the killing of his friend of many years.

A source within the community however, said the incident was reported to the police while detectives from the State Police Command visited the scene of the incident.

He said the men of the police command took the remains of the deceased to the morgue.

Following the incident, all staff present at the time have been detained and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID) for questioning.

DSP Olushola Ayanlade , Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who confirmed the murder to the Hope on Tuesday in Akure, said that investigations were ongoing to arrest the perpetrators.

“Yes, I can confirm to you that a hotelier was killed here in Akure and it was reported at ‘B’ Division Police Station.

“All efforts are in place to get the perpetrators, and the commissioner of police has directed that the case should be transferred to the state criminal investigation department for discreet Investigations.

“I can also tell you that all resources are on the table to ensure that the perpetrator will not go unpunished,” Olushola said.
