How Aiyedatiwa mourned Animasaun, Oluwatuyi, celebrated Fayemi

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa spent the past week reaffirming his administration’s commitment to Ondo State’s development while paying tribute’s to past leaders and contributors to the state’s progress.
On Monday, Aiyedatiwa marked the State’s 49th anniversary, reflecting on the journey of the Sunshine State since its creation on February 3, 1976 by the military government of General Murtala Muhammed.
In his anniversary message, the Governor honoured the founding fathers for their foresight and sacrifices, acknowledging their role in shaping the state into a hub of sustainable development and inclusive growth.
He also announced plans to constitute a committee to oversee preparations for the state’s 50th-anniversary celebrations in 2026, promising a grand event that would highlight Ondo’s achievements and future aspirations.
On Friday, Aiyedatiwa mourned the passing of Alhaji Shehudeen Olalekan Animasaun, a distinguished founding father of the State, who died at 84.
Pa Animasaun was a key member of the committee that fought for the state’s creation and served in various capacities, as chairman of the Ondo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (1976–1979) and as a member of the State House of Assembly (1982–1983).
In his condolence message, Aiyedatiwa described him as a man of integrity, humility, and deep faith, whose legacies in education, governance, and community service would remain a guiding light.
He also extended the state government’s support to the bereaved family, acknowledging Animasaun’s immense contributions to Ondo’s growth.
On Thursday, Aiyedatiwa was in Abuja to join other state governors in celebrating Dr Kayode Fayemi’s 60th birthday and the launch of the Amandla Institute for Policy and Leadership Advancement at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
The event provided an opportunity for discussions on governance and policy direction in Nigeria.
On Friday, the Governor attended the service of songs and Christian wake for the late Hon. Temitayo Oluseye Oluwatuyi, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
The solemn gathering at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade in Akure was marked by emotion as the late politician’s remains arrived, setting a sombre tone for the evening.
A Bible reading from Ecclesiastes 3:1–11 by the deceased’s daughter, Mrs Jumoke Adeola reflected on life’s fleeting nature. In an exhortation titled Where Will Christ Find You, Pastor James Onagwa emphasised the importance of preparing for eternity.
In his tribute, Aiyedatiwa described Oluwatuyi as a selfless leader who dedicated his life to public service, working tirelessly for the growth of Ondo State.
On Saturday, the Governor honoured the late Oluwatuyi at his outing and thanksgiving service at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, Akure.
Reading from Ecclesiastes 3:2 and Job 14:5, Aiyedatiwa reflected on the inevitability of death, urging the congregation to find solace in the impactful life the deceased lived.
He described Oluwatuyi as a political giant and unifying figure who served as local government chairman, commissioner and twice as SSG.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Oluwatuyi’s family and appreciated political leaders and well-wishers for their show of solidarity.
