For Amotekun security network to be sustainable and effective, only indigenous people who know their terrain should be employed.

Traditional rulers in Ondo State stated this in separate interviews with The Hope.

The monarchs equally frowned at the clamouring by the Miyetti Allah to be recruited into the corps, saying that the region has enough competent people to do the job efficiently.

The Chairman, Ondo state Council of Obas, who is also the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Frederick Enitiolorunda Obateru- Akinruntan warned that contractor security outfits should not be allowed to hijack it.

According to him, the security network should be indigenous while traditional rulers should play a remarkable role in strengthening the system.

Also, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ajibade Ogunoye posited that Amotekun is all about the people of the south west region, therefore they are capable to be in charge of curtailing the social vices ravaging the zone.

“We have indigenous able men and women who could be saddled with the responsibility. Miyetti Allah could as well be useful in the Northern part of Nigeria, Amotekun corps should only collaborate with Miyetti Allah where necessary,” the monarch stressed.

Reacting, The Jegun of Idepe Okitipupa, Oba Michael Adetoye advised that the corps must be adequately funded and supervised.

He equally warned that Miyetti Allah are not from the zone, hence should not be recruited into the corps. “We have enough people who are capable of handling the job”.
