Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted ten persons at a farm in Ayede Ogbese, Akure North council area of Ondo State.
Those kidnapped according to sources include a farmer identified as Femi Alawiye and nine of his workers at his farm.
The Hope Metro gathered that the kidnappers lured the victims to the farm under the pretense that the farm was on fire.
On arriving at the farm, the kidnappers who had laid ambush were said to have abducted the victims and whisked them to an unknown destination.
The kidnappers were reported to have contacted the family demanding N100million ransom for their release. But after much negotiation, they reduced it to N10million as at the time of filing this report.
Information reaching The Hope Metro revealed that five of the victims have been released.
Meanwhile , the police spokesperson in the state, DSP Funmi Odunlami, who confirmed the incident said five of the captors have been released.
She said their men are already in the bush in search of the remaining victims while efforts were ongoing to rescue the victims unhurt.
A source said, “On Saturday, Alawiye was called on the phone that his farm was on fire and he quickly rushed down to the farm to see the level of the damages, only to be ambushed by the hoodlums who had positioned themselves.
” They waited for them to get to the farm before they pounced on them. They were whisked away to an unknown destination.“
Speaking with newsmen, a family member of the kidnapped farmer said that the bandits had contacted the family and have demanded a sum of N100million ransom, which they later reduced to N10 m after much negotiation.
” Some hours after the abduction, the kidnappers called the family on phone to demand N100milion threatening that failure to produce the money, we may not see them again.
” We were informed that five of the farmworkers have been released.
” The family is yet to raise the money as I am speaking with you, all the victims are still in the den of the kidnappers,” he added.
