Hunter kills colleague in error, says I mistook him for a pig

Tragedy stuck at Okeluse via Ifon in Ose Local Government area of Ondo State when a hunter, Ayodele Aruliawoya, allegedly mistook his colleague for a pig and shot him to death during a hunting expedition
The Hope Metro gathered that Ayodele, who shot his co-hunter, Michael Anthony, to death, claimed it was pig that he saw and not human being.
The unfortunate incident which occurred last week, has thrown the whole community into confusion,
The police in the area has mobilized and arrested the suspect, who is currently cooling his heelsat the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), police headquarters in Akure.
The deceased, according to the police was a native of Delta state, but lived in Okeluse, before he met his untimely death.
The Police First Information Reports said the suspect and many other youths in the community on that fateful day set out for hunting expedition in one of the thick forests.
It was further gathered that every first month of the year the indigenes who are hunters in Okeluse always engage in annual hunting expedition of animals.
This year, about 20 youths were said to have participated in the hunting exercise which took them to the thick forest.
It was said that while the hunting expedition was in progress in the forest, Ayodele (suspect) saw what looked like a pig at a distance and allegedly shot ìt.
The police sources said the suspect ran to the police station in Ifon, to report himself, where his single barrel gun was retrieved from him .
It was further learnt that during interrogation, the suspect told the police that it was a pig he saw in front of him at the time he opened fire on the animal, which later turned out to be a human being
A competent police source who confirmed the incident said the suspect and his single barrel gun have been recovered, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at Ifon General Hospital, awaiting autopsy.
