Two suspected members of a kidnapping gang have been apprehended by local hunters in Owo, the headquarters center of Owo Local Government Area in Ondo State.
A video circulating on Facebook, shared by user Ogbeni OB Sugar, captured the moment the suspects were tied up and being questioned by residents.
In the two-minute and forty-one-second footage, the suspects were grilled by the locals on their mode of operation, the identity of their gang leader, and other details about their activities.
Visible in the video were several items reportedly recovered from the suspects, including firearms, cutlasses, cans of beer, and energy drinks.
At one point, one of the suspects could be heard pleading for water, further drawing the attention of those watching the video online.
A resident of the area who spoke under anonymity, confirmed that it was local hunters who tracked down the criminals in their hideout.
“The hunters stormed their camp in the forest yesterday. While some of the kidnappers escaped, two of them were caught and brought into town,” the source revealed.
When contacted for comment, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, acknowledged seeing the video and confirmed that an investigation has already been launched.
“I saw the video as well, and the command has commenced a thorough investigation,” he said.
