I dumped Portable, not thrown out, Alaafin’s ex-Queen boasts

...as singer gets more knocks from netizens

By Oluwadamilola Akinduro

In a dramatic twist, Queen Dami, the estranged wife of the controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus popularly known as ‘Portable’ and former wife of the late Alaafin of Oyo, has set the record straight on her split from the singer.

In a viral video, she refuted claims by Portable that she was thrown out, insisting it was her decision to leave.

Speaking in Yoruba during a TikTok live session with a friend, Queen Dami recounted how she walked away from the relationship due to threats from Portable.

According to her, the decision to leave was borne out of fear for her life.

She revealed, “It was my friend who advised me to leave. When I showed her the message Portable sent to me, she said, ‘You better run before he kills you.’”

Queen Dami explained that the singer threatened to “put a calabash on her head,” a metaphor often associated with rituals or curses. This, she said, was the final straw that made her pack her belongings and leave.

She recalled the moment she informed Portable of her decision: “When I was already in the car, he called me, and I told him I had dropped his key and left.” According to her, the artiste claimed his threats were merely a joke, but the damage had already been done.

Addressing rumours about why she wasn’t pregnant for Portable, Queen Dami dismissed the idea of bringing a child into such a toxic relationship. “Is it in such conditions someone will get pregnant?” she questioned.

She also expressed relief that Portable had no compromising photos of her, saying, “Thank God he doesn’t have my nude pictures; he would have leaked them to the public.”

On why she married the controversial singer despite his reputation, Queen Dami admitted it was a choice that outsiders might struggle to understand.

“It’s not something people can easily comprehend,” she said, without elaborating further.

The fallout has sparked widespread reactions online, with netizens lambasting both Queen Dami and Portable for their messy public spat.

Many criticised Dami for her decision to marry Portable after her stint as a queen in the royal palace.

On X (formerly Twitter), users didn’t hold back their opinions:

Abiodun Oyedele: “Ladies think everything is about money. Someone did a threesome with you and your friend, and you brought your daughter into it too. You don’t even think about your future. Who will marry you after this rubbish?”

Idowu Adebowale: “Very stupid people. Greed and ojukokoro killed Dami. How could you stoop so low to date Portable after leaving the Alaafin?”

Sheriffdeen_01: “It has always been about money for girls like her. Was it love that made her marry the old Oba in the first place? Don’t be surprised if she and Portable reunite tomorrow.”

The ongoing drama between Portable and Queen Dami has not only drawn scorn but has also reignited debates on relationships, dignity, and self-worth in the eyes of the public.

For now, the saga continues to dominate social media conversations.
