Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has again dismissed speculations suggesting that he plans to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that he remains a committed member of the PDP.
Adeleke, who currently serves as the Deputy Chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee of the PDP, expressed confidence that the party would emerge stronger from its current internal challenges.
Speaking shortly after the inaugural meeting of the Accommodation Sub-Committee of the PDP convention, the governor described the rumours of his defection as “baseless and unfounded
“Some people say I might be planning to join the APC because I have friends there or have been seen attending their events. I’m a very civilised person. If I have friends in the APC and they invite me to a wedding or social function, I will attend. That doesn’t mean I’m joining them,” he said.
Adeleke reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, noting that as Deputy Chairman of the party’s national convention scheduled for October 15 and 16, and as Chairman of the Accommodation Committee, his focus remains on ensuring a successful event.
“The PDP does not believe in propaganda or endless talk. Many people from other parties are also defecting — that’s politics. Nobody knows what tomorrow holds, but everyone has the right to make their choice,” he added.
The governor emphasised that the party’s priority is unity, organisation, and progress, expressing confidence that the forthcoming convention would mark a significant turning point for the PDP.
“By God’s grace, our convention will be a great success, and the PDP will continue to grow from strength to strength,” he stated.
Adeleke has repeatedly denied rumours of any plan to defect to the ruling APC, maintaining that he remains a loyal and committed member of the PDP.
His latest declaration further dispels ongoing speculations about a possible defection either now or in the future.
