‘I started music by using wood as microphone’

It was an amazing performance when Adegboyega Ijomiderin Blessing and her Blessing Gospel voices International band led some of her colleagues in the gospel music industry to offer praises to God in different styles in a mega concert last Sunday.

The Ondo-based gospel artiste, packaged the two in-one praise concert to celebrate her 40th birthday and launched a new album titled, ‘Egan Mi Dogo’.

The concert was held at the hall of ADOC event centre Ondo town and attended by eminent people in the society.

During the programme, the hall was filled to capacity with people from different walks of life dancing to  Ijomiderin Blessing’s song.

Ijomiderin while speaking with Friday Extravangaza, said that her passion for music has afforded her the opportunity to dine with kings.

“I have been seeing the mighty hands of God in my life, I started singing since when I was young, but professionally about 15 years ago, and God has been faithful to me.

“I don’t learn music from anybody, it is a gift from above, I love music right from my childhood and I cannot do without music.

” When I lost my father in the year 1989, I fell in love with music, I and my immediate brother would gather dry wood and I will look for something to use as a microphone, he would be drumming and I would be singing.

I did it, now I can receive songs through dream, bathroom, on the street, I will just pick my phone and starting recording it so that I will not forget.

“From there, I joined a choir in our church, the Redeem Christian Church of God, and our choir cord, Mrs Yemisi encouraged me to achieve my aim and from there I built himself in music,” she explained.

The artiste who is a graduate of Yoruba from Adeyemi College of Education said she loves praising God with all she has, and has seen the blessing of God whenever she praise him.

She identified the issue of composing as a major challenge, since she started singing, saying except for those that are called that would not have problem in composing songs.

Ijomiderin said that her aim is to sanitise the country through her inspirational songs and to restore those people that have gone astray back to God.

Her words, she mentioned Dr Bisi Alawiye Aluko JP as her mentor saying she like the way she sings and she is following her foot step believing she will get to higher place.

She revealed that she has been able to produce three albums titled ‘ARIWO AYO, IYANU AILOPIN and EGAN MI DOGO’. Ijomiderin appreciated God who made the programme a success and everyone that came to witness the occasion, and prayed  that they  would be blessed.

In his remarks, Prophet Joshua Olayiwola JP  Ijomiderin as a God fearing woman, responsible, and committed to the divine calling.

He disclosed that he fell in love with Ijomiderin music the first day he listened to it.

He prayed for Ijomiderin that God should take her to a higher place for her to achieve her noble goal, and her name to ring more bell.

Other guests at the concert included, Prophetess Dr Bisi Alawiye Aluko JP, Evang Seto Akinwande Akinsete, Evang Tolu Adelegan and other gospel artistes.
