I-Tree International School Pupils visit The Hope on excursion

Pupils of I-Tree International School, Ilorin, Kwara State have visited Owena Press Limited, the publisher of The Hope Newspaper on excursion.

The pupils, numbering 21 and in company of the school proprietress, Mrs Evelyn Balogun, and some members of staff of the school, arrived at the compound of The Hope curried in a blue vest (having the name of each pupil) and a cap.

According to the Proprietress, Mrs Balogun, the excursion was necessary “as part of curriculum to broaden the children’s knowledge through practical learning outside the four walls of the classroom”.

The pupils were enlightened on the process of news gathering, writing, editing and publication before they were taken round the departments in the establishment to see process of producing a newspaper.

The visit gave the curious pupils, who are between ages 8 and 10 years, the opportunity to ask questions pertaining to news writing, papers used for publication, transfer of news, news monitoring, qualifications of a journalist, among others.

The pupils had earlier visited the Ikogosi Water Spring in Ekiti state and Smoking Hills Golf Resort at Ilara Mokin as part of their excursion.

A cross section of the pupils could not hold back their delight at the scintillating experience recorded during the visit.
