I warned about herdsmen invasion

From Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo

Senator Francis Fadahunsi,   representing Osun East Senatorial District, has expressed worries over the spate of kidnappings, banditry and all sorts of criminalities  across the  length and breadth of the country.

Describing the security breaches by the suspected Fulani herdsmen as worrisome,  Fadahunsi recalled that he had warned on the upsurge before now.

Fadahunsi, stated this while speaking with newsmen in his hometown Ilase, Osun State.

His words , ” People are complaining bitterly about the rate of killings and kidnappings by this devil’s incarnate, but they forgot I warned them some years back.

”The herdsmen have distributed themselves round the country and if  anything happened to them, they would be supported by some extremists.

“That is what is happening now and I am not surprised because I gave the early warning signal around 2013 or 2014 and it was published in the dailies,” Fadahunsi said.

The Senator said he expected everybody to have been on alert when he warned, adding that the Fulanis  across the country reside  in most people’s farmland.

” These Fulani are in your farms dealing with you seriously, you did not complain. And now that it is getting out of hands you are now complaining.

He said, “There must be a joint effort among the rural dwellers, the community and particularly the traditional rulers who sells land to the Fulani especially in tackling the problem at hand.

He called on Federal Government to put an end to killings and kidnapping caused by herdsmen/farmers conflicts across the states.

Fadahunsi, who noted that Nigerians were now living in fear due to upsurge of kidnapping and killings in the country, said government must do everything within its power to salvage the situation.

He opined that Osun is currently on top of the situation and the state is really tackling the uprising with the help of the Joint Task Force.

He added further that there was no way of dealing with the cattle Fulani which would not affect the residents Fulani especially in fishing out the bad ones.

He therefore charged the  residents not to send them out of the state, adding that what happened to the Fulani in the bush will also affect the residents.

Fadahunsi, however, thanked God for the opportunity to represent his people, adding that he would not disappoint them.
