An Akure-based up coming gospel artiste, Evangelist Omowunmi Maxwell, has said that she received her gospel songs inspiration when she was a Muslim.
She said this while speaking with Friday Extravaganza, at an event in Akure recently.
According to her, “I discovered myself before I got married, I was singing in our house and one woman gave her life to Christ through my song.
“The following day, the woman came to our house and told me that she heard my voice when I was singing a particular song and the song turned her life around and this made her accepted Christ.
“We were Muslims then, my parents did not allow me to go to church, I used to sneak out to attend church programme because of the passion that I have for music.
“I got freedom to attend church when my parents died and that was the time I started my music career fully.
“My gift is from God, I don’t wait for anybody to call me before I use my voice. It has been in me, I can sing any where. “God has been faithful to me, I have been able to release one album, and the second is on the way.
“My ambition is to become a great gospel artiste in the world and to reign with Jesus at the end of my journey on this earth”, she submitted.
The artiste who studied Accounting at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic said that the issue of fund has been her major challenge since she has been singing but God has been able to settle her case till the present moment.
Maxwell noted that she got her music inspiration through Holy Spirit whenever she wanted to work on any topic of her choice.
In her word, music has been in her childhood. That is the reason she could overcome all the challenges she faced in her way.
However, he stressed that her love for music has continuously distinguished her in the industry while noting that her fans should expect more good works from her.
She urged upcoming artiste to preach the gospel through their songs and not to add unwholesome practice to their calling.
