‘I will not disappoint my fans’

Rising Nigerian DJ, Akomolafe Korede better known by his stage name as DJ Kor has promised his fans in Nigeria and the world at large that he would not disappoint them.

Talented DJ Kor, spoke with Friday Extravaganza about his love for music and how he fell in love with the art of disc jockey.

The Mass Communication graduate of Rufus Giwa polytechnic Owo also revealed his frustrations about being a DJ in Nigeria.

He noted that in his estimation, about 60 perfect of Nigerians have respect for DJs.

However, he stressed that his creative instinct has continuously distinguished him in the industry while promising his fans that he would not disappoint them all.

The artiste who hails from Akure, the Ondo State capital who has been djing professionally for four years said that he want to make money and as well make his name to become an households name.

“I love the job and I have passion for it and I believe I am going to a bigger place being a DJ.

 “I love music from my childhood and with the story my father normally tell us that when he was young he normally do what Yoruba called “Gbogbo Elere”.

“My Father is a pastor and I’m the only male in the family of four and the the story that my father told me I can see that I’m in right way.

 “I play Drum set very well when I was in secondary school and I go out with life bands every weekend back then and to churches to play.

“When I first performed on stage, I thought I won’t be able to do it but I put courage and I did well at the end of the day. It was a massive turn up and I was so happy.

“Today with the help of God, I have worked in different Radio stations, clubs, parties to mention but few.

“My frustration as a DJ is that sometimes Nigerians under-price our services. Being a DJ is beyond changing of songs. The equipment are expensive and we should not be priced like you are pricing pepper in the market.

“I faced a lot of discourage but I keep focused because I still have a long way to go,” he explained.

He noted that some days he would go to show and his sound system would not working perfectly and some other time it maybe his laptop

According to him, his interest in djing is to add another style to his talent saying God gave him the talent of playing different type of drums such as Talking drum, Omele, Konga drum and drum set.

He stated that DJ job is profitable in Nigeria and all over the world and a lot of endorsement from different brands, saying if they are excellent in what they are doing, people will fetch them out.

He enjoined upcoming DJ to know what they are doing and keep focused, pray, practice very well and they should not allow anyone to discourage them.
